Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church: Spelling Bee and Heart Health
On Friday, February 1st, Cross Lutheran held its annual spelling bee. Eighth grader, Amelia Gauss, out spelled eleven other students to become the champion of the 2018-2019 Annual Cross Spelling Bee. Amelia will represent Cross Lutheran at the Grundy/Kendall County Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 23rd at Saratoga Elementary School in Morris. If Amelia is unable to attend the county bee, Kate Bromeland will be the alternate for Cross. The winner of this bee will then advance to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
On Friday, Feb. 8th, all students in grades K-8th participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart to raise money for the American Heart Association. Students spent two hours jumping rope and learning about heart health, while raising money to make a difference. Cross Lutheran’s fundraising goal for this year was set at $4,500.
